Chester Bennington z kalifornskej kapely Linkin Park včera vo veku 41 rokov spáchal samovraždu obesením vo svojom dome v Palos Verdes v Kalifornii. Nájdený bol okolo 18. hodiny, teda v čase, kedy Linkin Park zverejnila najnovšie video k skladbe Talking To Myself z aktuálneho albumu One More Light.
Chester Bennington bol dobrým priateľom Chrisa Cornella zo Soundgarden, ktorý sa obesil tento rok v máji a Chester si za dátum svojej smrti “vybral” dátum Chrisových narodenín… Po sebe zanechal šesť detí, no depresia bola silnejšia.
Linkin Park mal k albumu naplánované turné, začínajúce na budúci týždeň 27. júla. Mike Shinoda so zlomeným srdcom potvrdil správy o tom, že Chester nežije, ale oficiálne vyjadrenie ešte nepodali a tak je otázne, či turné prebehne.
Kolegovia z hudobnej branže a fanúšikovia z celého sveta vyjadrujú šok a smútok nad stratou milovaného Chestera na sociálnych sieťach – Facebooku, Twitteri aj Youtube. Niet divu, hudba a najmä texty Linkin Park viacerým z nás pomáhajú a nachádzame v nich paralely s vlastným životom. Škoda, že sa nedalo zabrániť najhoršiemu na základe Chestrovho volania o pomoc.
